The number of Uzbekistan–Kyrgyzstan border crossing points will be increased to 30. This was announced by President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov during talks with President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev at the Rukh-Ordo Cultural Center in Issyk-Kul.
According to President Japarov, agreements have been signed to increase the number of border crossing points from 15 to 30. The decision will allow people to travel more freely, conduct business, study, and enjoy tourism and recreation.
Following the high-level talks held on 30 July 2026, Presidents Shavkat Mirziyoyev and Sadyr Japarov signed the Treaty on Allied Relations.
The parties also signed a protocol introducing amendments to the intergovernmental agreement on border crossing points. Under the document, the border checkpoints serving the Shohimardon and Sokh routes were granted international status.
