The competent authorities have reviewed the video appeal circulated on social media regarding the construction of a water reservoir (swimming pool) at a spring water source located in the “Shohimardon–Yordon” area of Fergana District, as well as the concerns raised therein.
The review established that a water reservoir (swimming pool) has indeed been constructed in the area. Water flows into the reservoir from a natural stream and is discharged through an outlet pipe back into its natural course. As of today, no cases of citizens swimming in the reservoir have been recorded.
The video appeal also expressed concerns that the construction activities could lead to contamination of drinking water, create sanitary and epidemiological risks, result in the cutting of trees, and violate environmental regulations. The competent authorities are continuing their investigation into these matters. Issues related to drinking water quality, compliance with sanitary requirements, and environmental safety will be assessed in accordance with the applicable legislation.
During the inspection, the individual carrying out the construction was requested to provide the project's design documentation, land allocation documents, construction permits, and environmental and sanitary approvals. As of the initial stage of the inspection, these documents had not been submitted.
Furthermore, during inspection activities conducted by the environmental protection authorities, violations were identified involving the unauthorized alteration of the natural watercourse and the conduct of activities within a protected area contrary to established regulations. Accordingly, an administrative penalty was imposed on the offender pursuant to Part 2 of Article 82 of the Code of Administrative Responsibility of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Information has also circulated on social media alleging that the facility belongs to certain public officials. As of today, these claims have not been officially confirmed; therefore, there is no legal basis for drawing any conclusions regarding such allegations.
It should be emphasized that the competent authorities continue to investigate the matter. Upon completion of the inspection, all established facts will be given an appropriate legal assessment in accordance with the law. If violations are confirmed, the responsible persons will be held accountable in the manner prescribed by legislation.
Citizens' appeals concerning environmental safety, the protection of drinking water sources, and environmental conservation remain under the constant attention of the competent authorities. Every appeal is reviewed impartially, comprehensively, and in full compliance with the law.
