A video appeal circulated on social media, claiming that residential houses in the Satkak neighborhood of Fergana district were flooded as a result of flash floods.
Regarding this situation, a working group consisting of the Fergana district khokimiyat, the head of the district Emergency Situations Department Davronbek Otamirzayev, and relevant officials visited the site to conduct an investigation.
It was determined that on May 27 of this year, as a result of heavy rainfall, the irrigation water supplied to the fields in the neighborhood area merged with rainwater. During the discharge process through the ditch-drainage collector, the ditch overflowed. Consequently, the water flowed over the newly paved asphalt road on Satkak Street.
The investigation revealed that this incident caused no damage to residential properties, household crops, vegetation, livestock, or other animals, and no threat to the safety of citizens emerged.
Furthermore, it became clear that the video was recorded and posted on social media not because residential homes were flooded, but rather to prevent potential damage to the newly laid asphalt surface.
In order to prevent the recurrence of such situations in the future, officials from the "Syrdarya-Sokh" Irrigation Systems Basin Management and the district Pump Station Operation Department were instructed to conduct explanatory work with the heads of farms. Additionally, appropriate directives were given to redirect the ditch-drainage collector discharges into the existing drainage system in the area.
