The silk farming season has officially started in Fergana district. An event was held in the “Oqbilol” mahalla with the participation of district hokim Khamidullo Inomov, representatives of the regional “Agropilla”, deputy hokims, community activists, and elders. During the event, silkworm seeds were distributed with good wishes.
This year, it is planned to cultivate 3,536 boxes of silkworms and produce 212 tons of cocoons. These figures are important for developing silk farming, ensuring employment, and creating additional sources of income for the population.
For reference, the price for 1 kilogram of cocoons has been set at 55,000 UZS this year, of which 40,000 UZS will be paid by the silk farming cluster and 15,000 UZS will be covered as a state subsidy.
Additionally, to support those engaged in silk farming, up to 20 million UZS in interest-free funds will be allocated to each breeder for a period of 3 years. These funds will be used to equip breeding facilities, purchase necessary equipment, and cover other related expenses.
