Energy market development and regulatory agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan

As an outcome, today on 6^th of June 2024, Cooperation Arrangement between the Energy Market Development and Regulatory Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Energy Market Regulatory Authority of the Republic of Türkiye (EPDK) is signed.

This document is developed based on the decision of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan dated January 17, 2024 No. PQ-28 "On measures to organize the activities of the Agency for the Development and Regulation of the Energy Market" and the Cabinet of Ministers "On Approval of the Charter of the Agency for Development and Regulation of the Energy Market of the Republic of Uzbekistan".

The main purpose of the agreement is to establish basis for cooperation between the Agency and EPDK, to enable the Agency learn experience of Türkiye in the field of energy market development, to establish and strengthen bilateral cooperation in this direction between the countries.

It should be noted that EPDK was established in 2001 and is an independent authority which regulates the energy market of Türkiye in order to provide consumers with sufficient, high-quality, continuous, economical and environmentally friendly energy resources.

This arrangement is a significant step in creating between the energy market regulatory bodies of the two countries ties to cooperate in energy market development in Uzbekistan Also, ensuring learning experience of EPDK in such areas as licensing of energy market participants of our country, the tariffs regulation and developing methodology, exchange of knowledge between experts and specialists, studying innovative solutions reflected in the agreement.
