The project is aimed at a detailed study of the state of atmospheric air in Termez, identification of sources of pollution, and development of recommendations for improving the environmental situation. The data obtained will make it possible to create effective tools for air quality control, protecting the health of residents and sustainable development of the city.
Special attention in the study will be paid to the influence of the "Afghan wind", the occurrence of sand and dust storms, which have a significant impact on air quality in the region. The Finnish Meteorological Institute, which has worldwide experience in the field of air quality monitoring and modeling, will provide technical and scientific support. UNEP will ensure the coordination of the project and the integration of the results into regional and global initiatives to improve the state of the environment.
"It is important to note that 2025 has been declared the year of environmental protection and a green economy in our country. This project reflects the Government's commitment to ensuring environmental sustainability and protecting the health of citizens. We are confident that the results of the study will become the basis for making effective decisions", said the head of the Department of Environmental Policy of the Ministry of Ecology, F. Sattarov.
The results of the study will be presented to the public in 2025. Based on them, recommendations will be developed for local authorities, industrial enterprises, and other stakeholders.
