Constant work is underway in the republic in this direction. At the initiative of the head of state, a system for handling household waste, processing it into electricity, and other useful products is being created. Investment projects are also being implemented in the field of recycling waste generated from the population.

"Investment projects have been signed with the United Arab Emirates, South Korea, and the People's Republic of China to generate electricity from household waste. The South Korean company Seijin has launched a project to generate electricity from waste collected at the "Akhangaran" landfill, — said Nodir Sherkulov, chief specialist of the Ministry of Ecology. – "In addition, in order to comprehensively support business entities, 66 public-private partnership projects on sorting and recycling of household waste have been implemented. Today, the waste generated by the population is exported by these enterprises and sent for processing", added he.

Umid Kholmatov, a specialist at the Agency for Waste Management and Development of the Circular Economy of the Ministry of Ecology, noted that over the past 6 months of this year, 270 thousand tons of 5.2 million tons of household waste were processed by enterprises carrying out more than 292 types of waste recycling activities in the republic, while the recycling level reached 5.2%.

The number of enterprises engaged in the recycling of waste and the production of finished products from them is also growing. One of them is the Toshkent Plast Polymer Enterprise. More than 50 tons of waste are received and processed here every day.

"Our company produces 15 types of products from waste. In particular, 30 types of plastic boxes, euro and standard pallets, corrugated cardboard products, garbage cans, car bumpers, and plastic buckets are produced", said Dilmurod Khodjaev, director of the enterprise.

The raw materials generated as a result of waste processing at the enterprise are also sent back for processing. In the manufacture of new products, special attention is paid to increasing their strength and elasticity.

For reference: by 2027, it is planned to build plants in 11 regions of the country designed to generate electricity by burning solid household waste. As a result, burning more than 4.7 million tons of waste per year will generate 2.1 billion kWh of electricity, and the number of landfills will be reduced by five times. This will allow the sale of electricity in the amount of 97 million US dollars. In addition, 152 million cubic meters of natural gas will be saved and 2.4 million tons of greenhouse gases will be reduced. 1,200 new jobs will also be created.
