8 incinerators for electricity production will be built in the republic
Joint cooperation agreements have been signed between the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, the Ministry of Investment, Industry, and Trade, the Ministry of Energy, and 6 large companies of the People's Republic of China (PRC) and the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
For reference: earlier, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, during a visit to the Central Asian University of Environmental and Climate Change Studies (Green University), got acquainted with the presentation of projects for the processing of household waste and the production of electricity and products from them. President stressed their social importance and instructed them to make these projects exemplary and increase their number in the regions.
According to this, in 11 regions of our country, with the participation of companies from China and the UAE, plants for the production of electricity by burning solid household waste will be built on the basis of projects worth a total of 1.28 billion US dollars. As a result, burning more than 4.7 million tons of waste per year will generate 2.1 billion kWh of electricity worth 97 million US dollars, and the number of landfills will be reduced by five times. It will also save 152 million cubic meters of natural gas and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 2.4 million tons. 1.2 thousand new jobs will be created.
The projects are planned to be implemented in 2025-2027 in Andijan, Bukhara, Jizzakh, Kashkadarya, Navoi, Namangan, Samarkand, Syrdarya, Ferghana, Tashkent regions, and the city of Tashkent. Construction processes will begin in January 2025, and the plants should be put into operation in December 2026.
In particular:
• According to the project of the Chinese company "China CAMC Engineering", 2 plants worth 350 million US dollars each will be built in the Tashkent and Andijan regions on an area of 12 hectares of land. Following this, 1.38 million tons of waste will be thermally disposed of annually, the environmental impact will be reduced, 630 million kWh of electricity will be generated, the number of landfills will be reduced by 50%, and 36 thousand households will be provided with electricity. 300 additional jobs will also be created.
• According to the project of the Chinese company "Shanghai sus Environment", 2 plants worth 310 million US dollars each will be built on 12 hectares of land in the Samarkand and Kashkadarya regions. According to this project, 1,095 million tons of waste will be thermally disposed of annually, the environmental impact will be reduced, 480 million kWh of electricity will be produced, the number of landfills will be reduced by 50%, and 27 thousand households will be provided with electricity. 300 additional jobs will also be created.
• According to the project of the PRC company "China Everbright Group", 2 plants will be built in the Namangan and Ferghana regions on a land plot of 12 hectares, one worth 283 million US dollars each. Within the framework of this project, 1.095 million tons of waste will be disposed of annually by thermal method, which will reduce the negative impact on the environment and will generate 455 million kWh of electricity, reducing landfills for waste by 50%. It will also provide electricity to 26,000 households and create 300 additional jobs.
• According to the project of the "Chengdu Environmental Group" of the People's Republic of China, a plant worth 135 million US dollars will be built in the Jizzakh region on a land plot of 12 hectares, designed for the production of building materials and electricity by incineration of waste from the Jizzakh and Syrdarya regions. As part of this project, 547.5 thousand tons of waste will be disposed of annually by the thermal method, which will reduce the negative impact on the environment and will generate 230 million kWh of electricity, reducing landfills for waste by 50%. It will also provide electricity to 13,000 households and create 150 additional jobs.
• According to the project of the UAE company "Tadweer Group", a waste incineration plant worth 200 million US dollars will be built in the Bukhara region on a land plot of 12 hectares. As part of this project, 547.5 thousand tons of waste will be disposed of annually by the thermal method, which will reduce the negative impact on the environment and will generate 363 million kWh of electricity, reducing landfills for waste by 50%. It will also provide electricity to 21 thousand households, create 150 additional jobs, and allow 350 qualified specialists to be trained annually.
• According to the project of the Republic of Korea company "Sejin", a plant worth 55 million US dollars will be built in the Tashkent region on a land plot of 59 hectares, designed for the production of alternative energy through waste recycling. Resolution of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 335 was signed on this project, contracts for investments and purchases of electricity were approved , and a landfill was allocated. The project provides for thermal waste disposal, which will reduce the environmental impact: reduce greenhouse gas emissions by 53 thousand tons, reduce 2 tons of contaminated groundwater, recultivate 59 hectares of landfill, and generate 16 million kWh of electricity. In addition, 40 additional jobs will be created.
It is worth noting that the establishment of partnerships with such leading foreign companies helps to stabilize the environmental situation, improve sanitation, and reduce the risk of spreading dangerous diseases among the population through the development of a circular economy in the field of waste management in our country. In addition, waste recycling contributes to the production of alternative energy, raw materials, and organic fertilizers, as well as the creation of eco-industrial zones on the territory of existing landfills.
