Conservationists and the cleanest mahallas will be awarded in Uzbekistan

This is provided for by the Resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan No. 514 dated August 16, 2024 "On measures to organize the contests "Defender of the Harmony of Nature" and "The Cleanest Mahalla".
According to the document, employees of landscaping departments and employees of sanitary-cleaning enterprises engaged in loading, transporting, placing, and sorting waste who have worked for at least 10 years can take part in the competition "Defender of the Harmony of Nature".
The competition starts on September 1, and the winners will be determined and awarded in accordance with the established procedure on the eve of the Day of Adoption of the Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan – December 8. The children and grandchildren of the winners studying at state higher educational institutions will be paid an annual contract (no more than 30 BCV).
The competition "The Cleanest Mahalla" will be held annually in November-January in the form of a district (city) qualifying stage, a regional qualifying stage, and a republican stage. The winners of the competition will be determined and awarded on the eve of the Navruz holiday – March 21.
According to the results of the competition, 14 mahallas-winners of the Republic of Karakalpakstan, regions of Uzbekistan, and Tashkent will receive 1 electric car for official use and a cash prize of 500 million sums for the construction of garbage collection sites, installation of garbage collection containers, and tree planting.
In addition, employees of sanitary-cleaning enterprises, landscaping departments, eco-activists, and public environmental inspectors will receive 100 bicycles and other awards every month.
Competitions are held to promote environmental culture among the population, improve the waste management system, support employees of sanitary cleaning and landscaping enterprises, and prevent the negative impact of waste on human health and the environment.
