The “Gastro Food” Gastronomic Tourism Festival was held in the city of Andijan to expand the region’s tourism potential and promote its distinctive culinary traditions. The event brought together industry experts and members of the wider community.
One of the festival’s key highlights was the celebration of the centuries-old Uzbek “Ustoz–Shogird” tradition, which emphasises mentorship and the transfer of knowledge and skills from master to apprentice. Alongside experienced and highly skilled chefs working in Andijan Region, talented students from vocational technical schools studying tourism and culinary arts also actively participated in the event.
As part of the festival, experienced culinary masters conducted specialised masterclasses. They shared their expertise with young participants, explaining the unique secrets of preparing traditional Uzbek plov, selecting ingredients and mastering the techniques required to achieve its distinctive flavour.
These hands-on sessions provided technical school students with a valuable opportunity to connect theoretical knowledge with practical experience and prepare for future careers in tourism and hospitality.
At the conclusion of the festival, which took place in a festive atmosphere, distinguished culinary masters who had made significant contributions to preserving and developing national culinary traditions, along with technical school students who demonstrated outstanding skills, received commemorative gifts and certificates of honour from the organisers.
