These days, a delegation led by Andijan Region Governor Shuhratbek Abdurahmonov is visiting the Vitebsk Region of the Republic of Belarus.
The delegation began its visit by attending the unveiling ceremony of a memorial dedicated to Uzbek soldiers who heroically lost their lives in the struggle to liberate Vitebsk.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Andijan Region delegation, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to Belarus.
During the event, participants paid tribute to their compatriots who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom and laid flowers at the foot of the memorial.
The memorial commemorates more than 17,900 soldiers. More than 700 of them were from Uzbekistan, including around 50 natives of Andijan Region.
Honoring the memory of our ancestors who displayed courage far from their homeland and passing on their heroic legacy to younger generations help us appreciate the value of the peaceful life we enjoy today and strengthen the bonds of friendship between nations.
