The meeting was attended by Ergashkhon Begmatova, Deputy Hokim of Shahrihan District and Head of the Department for Family and Women’s Affairs; Lieutenant Colonel Surayyo Mamatkulova, Deputy Head of the Department for Crime Prevention of the Andijan Regional Department of Internal Affairs; Jasurbek Ibrohimov, Regional Representative of the Commissioner for Human Rights (Ombudsman) of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan in Andijan Region; women’s activists from local mahallas; otinoyis; as well as women registered with the probation service and those who had received protection orders.

During the meeting, participants highlighted the comprehensive measures being implemented in Uzbekistan to support women, ensure their rights, freedoms and legitimate interests, expand their participation in public and state affairs, increase their social and political activity, and protect them from harassment and violence.

The participants reviewed measures being taken in Shahrihan district to prevent crimes and offences that may arise within family and domestic relations, strengthen targeted work with conflict-affected families, safeguard women’s rights and legitimate interests, and ensure their safety.

Particular attention was also paid to preventing women from becoming victims of human trafficking, strengthening preventive work with citizens registered for preventive monitoring and those under probation supervision, as well as providing support and ensuring the safety of women who have received protection orders.

The meeting also emphasized the importance of identifying potential risks at an early stage, addressing conflicts within families in a timely manner, strengthening individual preventive measures, and raising public legal awareness.

Following the meeting, a number of priority tasks were identified aimed at fostering a healthy social and psychological environment in families, ensuring effective protection of women’s rights and legitimate interests, preventing harassment and violence at an early stage, and further strengthening preventive measures.
