Large-scale efforts to reduce electricity losses and improve energy efficiency are continuing in the Barkamol Mahalla of Andijan City.
Andijan Region is one of the most densely populated areas of Uzbekistan, resulting in a steady increase in electricity demand and growing pressure on the power grid. Under these conditions, the efficient use of energy resources, ensuring a reliable electricity supply, and reducing energy losses have become key priorities.
To assess the progress of these efforts, the ongoing work in the 4th residential district of Andijan city was reviewed under the leadership of the Governor of Andijan Region and the Regional Prosecutor. During the visit, the implementation of energy-saving technologies, the modernization of electricity networks, and measures aimed at addressing existing challenges in the sector were thoroughly analyzed.
It was noted that improving the effectiveness of the 107 working groups established at the initiative of the regional governor to reduce electricity losses remains of particular importance. In this regard, responsible officials were instructed to conduct systematic daily analyses of completed work and to monitor performance based on measurable indicators.
Special attention was also paid to preparations for the upcoming autumn and winter season. Officials were instructed to complete, within the established timeframe, the repair of transformer substations, replace outdated power lines with modern insulated conductors, redistribute loads on overloaded transformers, clear vegetation near power transmission lines in accordance with safety and sanitary requirements, ensure the efficient operation of the Automated System for Commercial Electricity Metering (ASCEM), intensify inspections to detect illegal power connections, and install reactive power compensation equipment.
The regional governor emphasized that all construction and installation works must be carried out to a high standard, with timely provision of the necessary equipment and materials, while ensuring that every project delivers tangible practical results.
During the visit, officials also inspected a new project being implemented with the participation of Chinese investors in the “Barkamol” neighborhood of the 4th residential district. The project involves the construction of two modern 400 kVA transformer substations equipped with automated control systems designed to reduce electricity losses. According to specialists, once commissioned, these facilities will significantly reduce energy losses and ensure a more stable and reliable electricity supply for consumers.
Another important development is the upcoming launch of construction of a plant for the production of modern transformers in Andijan Region with the participation of Chinese investors. The new enterprise is expected to manufacture high-quality transformers for the power sector, contribute to the modernization of the region’s energy infrastructure, increase the production of import-substituting goods, and create new jobs.
Projects aimed at improving energy efficiency play a vital role in ensuring a stable electricity supply for the population, developing modern infrastructure, and accelerating the region’s sustainable economic growth.
