The championship, which lasted several days, was organized with the aim of developing the national sport of kurash among young athletes, identifying talented teenagers, and supporting them. Nearly 700 young wrestlers representing the Republic of Karakalpakstan and all regions of the country took part in the competition and battled for victory.
“The championship competitions were organized at a high level,” said O‘tkirbek Toshpo‘latov, Head of the Andijan Regional Sports Department. “Participants tested their skills and abilities in several weight categories. According to the final results of the intense and exciting matches, the young kurash athletes from Samarkand secured first place in the overall team standings. Representatives of Surkhandarya region took second place, while wrestlers from Jizzakh region earned third place. The winners and prize-winners of the championship were awarded medals, diplomas, and commemorative gifts.”
