About the Cinematography Agency under the Ministry of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan

In order to systematically continue reforms aimed at developing the national cinema industry, improving the system of state support, introducing effective mechanisms of film production based on international experience, creating a modern cinema infrastructure, and developing the film distribution system, the Presidential Decree No. UP-6202 dated April 7, 2021, “On advancing the art and industry of cinema to a new stage and further improving the system of state support,” the National Agency “Uzbekkino” was reorganized into the Cinematography Agency of the Republic of Uzbekistan.

The main tasks of the Agency:

• Developing strategic directions for the advancement of the cinema industry, considering its role in developing national culture and the spiritual life of society, based on the harmony of universal and national values;

• Implementing state policy in the field of cinematography and video-film activities;

• Supporting organizations, film studios, and creative teams in the cinematography sector, protecting their interests, and creating favorable conditions for entrepreneurship and competition;

• Educating talented young cinematographers and supporting the realization of their creative potential in order to preserve and enrich the best traditions of national cinema;

• Organizing the work of the “Republican Cinema Fund” state unitary enterprise in line with modern requirements;

• Improving the system of film production and screening through competitions, technical re-equipment, and enhancing the quality of cinema and video services for the public;

• Taking necessary measures to prevent the illegal import, use, rental, and distribution of copyrighted film and video products;

• Conducting expert assessments of imported and exported film and video products, and managing their screening and technical use throughout the republic.
