These days, a delegation led by Shuhratbek Abdurakhmonov, Governor of Andijan Region, is visiting the Vitebsk Region of the Republic of Belarus.
The delegation began its visit by attending the opening ceremony of a memorial dedicated to Uzbek soldiers who heroically lost their lives during the liberation of Vitebsk.
The ceremony was attended by members of the Andijan regional delegation, the Chairman of the Vitebsk Regional Executive Committee, and the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Uzbekistan to the Republic of Belarus.
During the event, participants paid tribute to their compatriots who sacrificed their lives for peace and freedom and laid flowers at the foot of the memorial.
The memorial commemorates more than 17,900 soldiers. Over 700 of them were from Uzbekistan, including nearly 50 from the Andijan Region.
Honouring the memory of our ancestors who demonstrated courage far from their homeland and passing on their heroic legacy to younger generations help us appreciate the value of today's peaceful life and strengthen the bonds of friendship between nations.
