The Institute of Criminology is being established in accordance with the Presidential Decree "On measures to raise the quality of scientific research activities in the field of public safety and combating crime to a new level". The Research Institute of Criminology of the Republic of Uzbekistan is being established, its tasks are as follows: • conducting in-depth research on the criminogenic situation in the republic, analyzing and forecasting crime trends; • scientific evaluation of the effectiveness of measures to stabilize the criminogenic situation in the region, as well as development of measures to eliminate crime factors by improving the practice of legislation and law enforcement. The Institute performs its tasks independently of any state bodies, public associations and officials, it is prohibited to influence its activities to change the information in the research report. The head of the institute is appointed by the Cabinet of Ministers.
