About the Department
The healthcare and preventive institutions under the Main Medical Directorate of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan provide, within the guaranteed scope of medical assistance, medical care to the assigned contingent at the expense of the state budget, as well as provide paid medical services on a contractual basis to persons who are not part of the assigned contingent, in particular citizens of the Republic of Uzbekistan, foreign citizens and stateless persons, in outpatient and inpatient settings, including diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases, as well as the provision of highly qualified medical care, along with determining and implementing measures to ensure sanitary and epidemiological stability among the assigned contingent and to prevent infectious and particularly dangerous infectious diseases.
The Main Medical Directorate of the Administration of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan includes Central Consultative and Diagnostic Polyclinic No. 1 and No. 2, Central Clinical Hospital No. 1 and No. 2, the Department of Sanitary and Epidemiological Surveillance, the State Institution “Central Pharmacy”, “Qibray” Clinical Sanatorium, “Uzbekistan” JSC (the “Uzbekistan” sanatorium and resort organizations in the cities of Kislovodsk and Yalta of the Russian Federation), as well as other auxiliary institutions (Department for Special Motor Transport Support, Department for the Development of the Material and Technical Base).
The main functions of the Main medical Department are as follows:
- To organize and provide guaranteed and high-quality medical and sanatorium-health services to the designated contingent, including local executive authorities;
- To carry out organizational and methodological activities, as well as coordinate and supervise the activities of subordinate institutions of the Main Medical Department;
- To introduce advanced international experience, achievements of science and technology, including modern information and communication technologies and telemedicine capabilities, based on a systematic analysis of existing problems and shortcomings in the provision of all types of medical and medico-social care, disease prevention, diagnostics, and treatment;
- To organize and improve medical care for the pediatric contingent;
- To organize and coordinate the activities of JSC “Uzbekistan”;
- To engage highly qualified specialists from republican specialized scientific and practical medical centers, selected republican treatment and preventive institutions, research institutes, and relevant foreign medical organizations for joint consultations, expert reviews, and complex surgical interventions.
