How is temporary disability benefit paid to a newly hired employee?
The amount of temporary disability benefit (excluding pregnancy and childbirth) is determined based on the employee’s total length of service as of the date of benefit assignment. This is verified through the employee’s work record book (or electronic work record book) or other official documents. The length of service at the current company does not matter.
1. Benefit amounts depending on total work experience:
-
Employees with less than 8 years of service — 60% of average monthly salary;
-
Employees with 8 years or more of service — 80% of average monthly salary;
-
Orphans under 21 years of age — 80% of average monthly salary.
(Cabinet of Ministers of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Resolution No. 314 of May 31, 2024, Annex 1, paragraph 22)
2. The following categories are entitled to 100% of their average monthly salary:
-
Internationalist soldiers;
-
Parents with three or more children under 16 (under 18 if studying);
-
Persons involved in eliminating the consequences of the Chernobyl accident;
-
Persons evacuated from areas affected by the Chernobyl accident and who developed illnesses due to radiation;
-
Persons temporarily disabled due to occupational injury or disease;
-
Parents (including guardians and custodians) placed under quarantine due to pandemic, technogenic, natural, or environmental emergencies, while caring for a child under 14.
Example: Muhammadjon has a total work experience of 4 years (less than 8). Therefore, according to Annex 1, paragraph 22 of Resolution No. 314, his temporary disability benefit is calculated at 60% of his average salary.
If his average salary is 3,000,000 UZS:
3,000,000 × 60% = 1,800,000 UZS.
For a 10-day sick leave: 1,800,000 / 30 = 60,000 UZS (per day).
Total benefit: 60,000 × 10 = 600,000 UZS.
