Adiz Boboev, who is an acting governor of Samarkand region, attended the ceremony for the construction of the plant and noted the great importance of this project in the field of waste processing and energy production in the region in ensuring energy stability.
The People's Republic of China's “Shanghai SUS Environment” company is attracting direct investment in the amount of 150 million US dollars to produce electricity by incinerating solid household waste in Samarkand region. As part of the project, a 15-hectare area has been allocated in Solim Kurgan area of Samarkand city, where a plant with a capacity of thermally processing 1,500 tons of waste per day and generating 240 million kWh of electricity per year will be built. Up to 150 new jobs are being planned to create at this enterprise.
