The event was attended by the First Deputy Chairman of the Senate of the Oliy Majlis of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Sodiq Safoyev, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance of the Republic of Uzbekistan - Jamshid Kuchkarov, UN Resident Coordinator in Uzbekistan - Sabine Machl, ambassadors of partner countries, heads of UN organizations' representative offices in Uzbekistan, representatives of ministries and agencies, as well as local government authorities.
At the event, participants emphasized that the UN serves as a worthy platform for ensuring peace and stability in the world, strengthening friendship and cooperation, and protecting human rights globally. They also highlighted the work done and results achieved in our country in cooperation with the UN.
In particular, the participants noted that as a result of cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN on achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Uzbekistan has risen 19 positions in the SDG ranking.
At the same time, it was noted that during the high-level meeting between the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres within the framework of the UN General Assembly events held in New York in September of this year, an agreement was reached on the adoption of the UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Program for 2026-2030 in order to implement joint projects aimed at achieving the Sustainable Development Goals. It was also emphasized that the importance of ensuring quality implementation of the agreements reached on further developing multifaceted cooperation between Uzbekistan and the UN during the high-level meeting in New York.
UN representatives emphasized their readiness to further expand cooperation with Uzbekistan in this area and support the efforts being made to achieve the SDGs.
At the end of the event, the "UN Sustainable Development Cooperation Program for 2026-2030" was signed, defining the strategic directions of cooperation with the UN until 2030.
