The parties considered the current state and promising areas of cooperation between Uzbekistan and UNESCO, which has significantly expanded in recent years and reached a qualitatively new level.
Today, Uzbekistan is an active participant in the Organization's activities, has initiated and co-organized several major joint events.
For the first time in history, in July 2022, the country was elected a member of the Intergovernmental Committee for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage for 2022-2026, a Memorandum of Understanding for 2022-2026 was signed, providing for further enhancing collaboration between Uzbekistan and UNESCO.
At the initiative of the Uzbek side, the Khiva Process was launched, aimed at developing international cooperation in the fields of UNESCO competence in the Central Asian region.
