The Republic of Uzbekistan conducts an open, mutually beneficial and constructive foreign policy based on the national interests of the country. Current foreign policy of Uzbekistan is formed taking into account the dynamic changes in the world and the region as well as large-scale reforms within the country.
The main goal of the foreign policy of the Republic of Uzbekistan is strengthening of the independence and sovereignty of the state, further enhancing the role and place of the country in international arena, joining the ranks of the developed democratic states, creating security, stability and good neighborliness belt around Uzbekistan.
Today, the Republic of Uzbekistan has established diplomatic relations with more than 130 countries around the world. There are 44 embassies of foreign countries, 1 consulate general, 8 honorary consuls, 17 missions of international organizations, 13 representations of international intergovernmental and governmental organizations of foreign states, 1 trade mission with diplomatic status are operating in Tashkent.
55 diplomatic and consular missions of the Republic of Uzbekistan are accreditated in foreign countries and international organizations. Uzbekistan is a member of more than 100 international organizations and develops interaction with various structures of multilateral cooperation.
Taking into account the peculiarities of the geostrategic location of our republic, as well as the evolving military-political situation in the region, the General Staff of the Ministry of Defense of the Republic of Uzbekistan was transformed into the General Staff of the Armed Forces of the Republic of Uzbekistan, the structures and tasks of the military districts, the Air Defense Forces and the Air Force were revised Forces, the National Guard was created, and comprehensive measures were taken to equip the troops with the most modern weapons and equipment.
In order to improve the system of training professional military personnel at all levels, a completely new Academy of the Armed Forces was created, which, having absorbed the glorious military traditions of the Tashkent Higher Combined Arms Command School
and the accumulated experience of the existing Academy and the leading scientific and educational institutions of the country, has become the leading higher military educational institution and the center of military science.
At the present stage, Uzbekistan has a professionally trained, well-equipped Armed Forces, capable of effectively solving a wide range of tasks to ensure the security, territorial integrity of the country, the inviolability of its borders, and the protection of the peaceful and calm life of citizens.
