Wiebke Schloemer emphasized that the reforms in Uzbekistan are marked by openness and are aimed at creating a favorable climate for investors. Among the key achievements, she highlighted the first transaction to attract an investor for the construction of a photovoltaic power plant under the Scaling Solar program, which has become a benchmark for subsequent energy projects.
The meeting also addressed the prospects of developing PPP in healthcare, education, and energy. Participants underlined that IFC plays a crucial role in fostering the country’s private sector by providing access to financing, advisory support, and contributing to the improvement of the regulatory framework.
Special attention was given to joint efforts in enhancing investment legislation and strengthening the capacity of national companies in financial management, enabling them to access international capital markets. The parties expressed interest in further developing the Foreign Investors Council under the President of Uzbekistan and IFC’s participation in its activities.
