Meeting with representatives of the International Labour Organization

The meeting was attended by Gulnora Murodova, Director of the Department of Budget Policy in the Field of Social Protection of the Population and State Social Services of the Ministry, Ajiniyaz Kaipnazarov, Director of the Department of International Financial Relations, Shukhrat Matkarimov, Director of the Department of Development of International Cooperation and Protocol Service, and Azizkhan Khankhodjaev, National Coordinator of the ILO in Uzbekistan.

Initially, it was about the current status of projects implemented in cooperation with the ILO, and plans for the future. In particular, the Director of the ILO Regional Office for Eastern Europe and Central Asia, Olga Kulayeva highly appreciated the reforms carried out in our country in the field of social protection of the population and highlighted the projects that are expected to be implemented in certain areas of cooperation in the field of social protection within the framework of the decent work program agreed by the ILO and the Republic of Uzbekistan on 2022-2023.

During the meeting, the guests were informed about the implementation of the strategy of social protection of the population in our country, that step-by-step measures for the introduction of the social insurance system are now clearly defined, a Social Insurance Fund has been created, and a new procedure for the appointment and payment of maternity benefits is being introduced.

The parties noted that currently information on the targets of the social protection strategy of the Republic of Uzbekistan is regularly monitored and published on the Ministry's website, and in the future, in order to effectively accomplish this task, it is necessary to create a module “observatory of social protection” with the technical and methodological support of the ILO to ensure access to modern information and communication technologies, digitalization data analysis.

At the end of the meeting, the parties agreed to expand the scope of projects in the field of social protection of the population and further strengthen cooperation.
