    A meeting was held with the World Bank's Regional Director for Central Asia

    On 12 March this year, Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov met with World Bank Regional Director for Central Asia Tatiana Proskuryakova at the Ministry of Economy and Finance.

    During the meeting, the sides discussed key macroeconomic reforms, the implementation of which is planned by the government this year within the framework of the Strategy "Uzbekistan - 2030". In particular, they touched upon the issues of reforming the energy, transport and telecommunications sectors, improving the business environment, and transforming state-owned enterprises. 

    The participants of the meeting noted the progress in implementation of the Country Partnership Framework between the World Bank Group and Uzbekistan for the Period FY2022-FY2026.

    For information: The objective of this programme is to assist the country in achieving specific socio-economic outcomes, including poverty reduction, private sector expansion, human capital development and building a green economy. 

    The sides noted the increase in the number and improvement in the quality of projects implemented by the Government of Uzbekistan in various sectors of the economy jointly with the World Bank. In particular, among them is the recently approved project on the development of digital economy in Uzbekistan. The participants of the meeting also discussed the projects currently under development.

    At the end of the meeting, the participants expressed readiness to continue active dialogue within the framework of implementation of reforms aimed at building an inclusive market economy and improving the welfare of the country's citizens.
