The development of the defense industry plays a key role in strengthening the country’s defense capabilities, alongside the professional training of military personnel. A historic milestone was establishing a modern defense industry in Uzbekistan at the initiative of the President. The agency, operating under the Ministry of Defense, is systematically working on modernizing weaponry, adopting new technologies, and integrating advanced developments into the armed forces.
At the Center for Innovative Technologies, the production of about 80 types of military equipment and dual-use products has been established. Startup projects in robotics and unmanned aerial vehicles are also being supported.
During the visit, the President became acquainted with new models of military equipment, promising projects, and plans for further defense sector development.
The Head of state emphasized that these are only the initial steps in the industry’s development and that efforts must continue to enhance the competitiveness of Uzbekistan’s defense complex. He issued specific directives to expand production capabilities, develop new types of products, and incorporate innovative technologies and artificial intelligence.
Instructions were given to further involve the private sector in the defense industry on a contractual basis and to expand the range of military and dual-use products. Special attention was paid to creating new jobs, training specialists, and establishing laboratories for developing new types of equipment.
It is worth noting that Uzbekistan’s defense industry enterprises actively participate in international specialized exhibitions. In particular, at the IDEX 2025 exhibition held in Abu Dhabi, UAE, from February 17 to 21, more than 100 units of domestically produced military equipment and products were showcased. Among the exhibits were the “Arslon 8×8” and “Arslon 6×6” armored personnel carriers, as well as the “Tufon” self-propelled howitzer, which attracted significant interest from international partners.
Following the visit, the President outlined strategic directions for further defense industry development and assigned specific tasks to responsible officials to ensure high product quality, expand production capacity, and strengthen the position of domestic manufacturers in the global market.
