This event is held at the initiative of the Uzbekistan Hotelier Association in order to sum up the results of 2022. The event also discussed the activities of the association and plans for the next year.
The event was opened by Deputy Prime Minister, Minister of Tourism and Cultural Heritage Aziz Abdukhakimov.
"As of November 2022, there are 4,879 accommodation facilities for 113,570 people in Uzbekistan. Of these, 939 hotels are designed for 55,471 people. Also, guests are served by 3,180 family guest houses with 27,836 places, 556 hostels for 18,761 places, — Aziz Abdukhakimov said. “In 2022, 4,700 tourists from foreign countries visited Uzbekistan. In 2023, it is planned to increase the number of foreign tourists to 7 million, and the number of locals to 12 million.”
Faringiz Abdullaeva, Chairman of the Association of Hoteliers of Uzbekistan, also spoke at the event. He noted that work is underway in our country to bring accommodation facilities in line with the current unified state standards, to further improve the quality of services.
During the event, the partners presented their projects that may be useful in the hotel sector. In addition, each participant had the opportunity to hold negotiations and discussions, meet experienced industry professionals, and also have a delicious breakfast as part of the “Best Breakfast” nomination.
For reference, by the end of 2022, Hilton Worldwide, InterContinental Hotel Group, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, Accor Hotel Group, Marriott International, Radisson Hotel Group, Reikartz Hotel Group, Azimut Hotels, Wyndham Hotel Group, Lotte will work in the field of hotel services in Tashkent international brands operate, such as Hotels&Resorts, Ateka Hotels.
In 2022, Reikartz opened 9 hotels in Andijan, Bukhara, Kokand, Samarkand, Tashkent, Urgench and Termez, becoming the largest hotel chain in Uzbekistan.
The international French brand Accor also actively showed itself in 2022 by launching the Mercure hotel in Tashkent. At the same time, it is preparing to receive guests in Bukhara and Samarkand. And in 2025, it is planned to launch a hotel of this chain in Khiva.
Also in 2022, the Silk Road Samarkand multi-profile tourist complex began its work in Samarkand. The 260-acre complex includes world-famous hotels.
The Intercontinental Hotel, part of the Trilliant complex, is closing down to start operations in 2023. Separately, it is worth noting that this will be the first project in Uzbekistan that has a LEED Gold certificate (a green building certification program that is used throughout the world).
All this work is aimed at the sustainable and steady growth of the hotel industry in Uzbekistan.
