Prospects for mutual cooperation between representatives of the Ministry of Economy and Finance and the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development were discussed

The meeting was attended by Hussein Ozhan, the EBRD Managing Director for Central Asia and Mongolia; Andi Aranitasi, Head of the EBRD Office in Uzbekistan; Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance Ilhomjon Umrzakov and Otabek Fozilkarimov; as well as other responsible representatives.
During the meeting, the parties focused particular attention on discussing the projects implemented jointly over the past period and their outcomes, future directions of cooperation, as well as priority projects aimed at enhancing economic stability and social prosperity in Uzbekistan.
Specifically, during the dialogue, the parties discussed accelerating the privatization of SOBs, supporting the private sector, developing and transforming SOEs, and advancing projects implemented through PPP programs. This included discussing the development of projects for establishing schools and student dormitories in the education sector.
Additionally, during the discussions, views were exchanged on ensuring green growth, including improving energy efficiency and widely implementing green technologies, developing and further supporting SMEs, particularly increasing the accessibility of financial services for women and young entrepreneurs.
Concurrently, special emphasis was placed on developing specific projects for modernizing heat supply infrastructure and providing sustainable services to the population based on green and innovative technologies. Additionally, particular attention was given to the effective use of water resources, including the implementation of irrigation projects and the widespread adoption of water-saving technologies in agriculture.
