In Ankara, Foreign Ministers of Uzbekistan and Turkiye Bakhtiyor Saidov and Hakan Fidan held the Uzbekistan-Turkiye Strategic Planning Group meeting. During the negotiations, the parties summed up achievements, and set short and long-term goals. They reviewed the schedule of upcoming high-level events, the legal framework of our relations, and the full implementation of all agreements reached at the highest level.
Ministers signed a Cooperation Plan between the Foreign Ministries of Uzbekistan and Turkiye for 2024-2025 and a Memorandum of Understanding between the Diplomatic Academy at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy of the MFA of Uzbekistan and the Diplomacy Academy of the MFA of Turkiye.
During the visit, Foreign Minister Saidov was received by the Vice President of Turkiye Cevdet Yilmaz, held separate meetings with Speaker of the Grand National Assembly of Turkiye Numan Kurtulmus, President of the Turkish Cooperation and Coordination Agency Serkan Kayalar and Rector of Ankara University Necdet Unuvar.
A wide range of issues on the Uzbekitan-Turkiye agenda were discussed at the negotiations. Special attention was paid to intensifying economic diplomacy by creating favorable conditions for mutual trade, further expanding cooperation in the textile industry, implementing new investment projects, and building up interregional partnerships. The sides exchanged views on strengthening ties in the field of science and education, mitigating the consequences of the Aral Sea catastrophe, and fostering efficient agriculture.
It was noted that the dialogue between the parliaments of the two countries is steadily developing, playing an important role in implementing the agreements reached at the highest level.
In Ankara, with the assistance of the Ministry of Culture and Tourism of Turkiye, a round table was organized on the topic “Crossroads of Civilizations: New Uzbekistan” with the participation of a number of Turkish tourism companies. The minister presented the latest trends and developments of the tourism industry of Uzbekistan and new avenues for cooperation.
The Foreign Minister of Uzbekistan also met with the heads of a number of the largest companies in Turkiye to discuss the possibilities of establishing partnerships in many promising areas, especially attracting advanced and innovative technologies to the economy of Uzbekistan.
