The meeting was attended by Special Adviser to the Office of the Secretary-General of UNCTAD Erika Martinez Lievano, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibayev, First Deputy Chairman of the State Customs Committee Ilkhom Mukhtarov, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan to the issues of the World Trade Organization Aziz Urunov and other responsible persons.
For reference: The United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) is an intergovernmental organization within the United Nations Secretariat that advocates for the interests of developing countries in global trade. The organization's primary goal is to formulate policies related to all aspects of development, including trade, aid, transport, finance, and technology.
During the dialogue, the parties discussed the socio-economic reforms being implemented in our country, based on the principles of openness, in particular, work towards WTO membership, the regulatory framework being formed, improvement of tax administration and the customs system, improvement of the competitive environment, development of public debt management and financial research, as well as cooperation in these areas.
Also during the discussions, an exchange of views took place on active economic growth in Uzbekistan, poverty reduction, and strengthening the implementation of modern digital technologies in the customs sphere.
Following the negotiations, the parties agreed to develop mutually beneficial relations and take cooperation to a new level, as well as to conduct systematic and effective activities towards the set goals.
