Study in Japan: New Grant Agreement Signed for Uzbekistan!

The event was attended by Kenji Hirata, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Japan to Uzbekistan; Mamoru Sakai, Chief Representative of the JICA Uzbekistan Office; and Qo‘ng‘irotboy Sharipov, Minister of Higher Education, Science and Innovation.

The main objective of the project is to train highly qualified professionals for key sectors of Uzbekistan’s economy and enhance the professional capabilities of young specialists working in public administration and strategically important fields.

Currently, 52 Uzbek citizens are pursuing their studies in Japan under the JDS project.

The next selection round will cover priority fields such as economics, business administration, public policy, business law, information technology, and other areas.

The meeting also focused on other important areas of Uzbekistan–Japan educational cooperation, including Japanese language learning, strengthening direct ties between higher education institutions, and exchanging expertise in engineering, artificial intelligence, and modern manufacturing technologies.

The parties agreed to launch joint educational programmes, expand cooperation with leading Japanese higher education institutions, and promote the development of Japanese universities’ activities in Uzbekistan.
