The meeting was also attended by Amanda Sayeg and Natalia Salazar, Senior Economists at the Public Financial Management Division of the IMF Fiscal Affairs Department, Akhadbek Khaydarov, Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance, and other relevant officials.
The discussions focused on opportunities to enhance the effectiveness of fiscal management, further develop public financial management practices, and apply advanced approaches aimed at improving fiscal governance.
Particular attention was paid to fiscal discipline as an important component of sound public financial management. In this context, the participants discussed approaches to maintaining an appropriate balance between budget revenues and expenditures, exploring new approaches to determining the level and limits of the budget deficit, as well as ensuring the efficient use of budgetary resources.
The meeting also addressed ways to further improve budget processes, including enhancing revenue forecasting and expenditure planning, using accurate and reliable forecasts in the preparation of budget parameters, and ensuring greater consistency in financial planning.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties expressed their readiness to further advance reforms in the areas of fiscal management and public financial management, exchange experience on international best practices, and continue mutually beneficial cooperation.
