The JICA delegation included Kenichi Kono, Director of the Central Asia and Caucasus Department, Mamoru Sakai, Chief Representative of the JICA Uzbekistan Office, and other representatives. The Uzbek side was represented by Deputy Ministers of Economy and Finance Otabek Fazilkarimov and Umid Abidkhadjaev, Adviser to the Minister of Economy and Finance Jasur Karshibaev, and Director of the National Agency for Energy Efficiency Ziyoviddin Badriddinov.
At the beginning of the meeting, agreements were signed on financing the “Improving Energy Efficiency in Social Facilities” and “Improving Energy Efficiency in Industry” projects being implemented with JICA’s participation. These projects envisage the introduction of energy-efficient solutions in educational and healthcare institutions, as well as support for measures aimed at improving energy efficiency in industrial enterprises through concessional financing mechanisms.
The parties discussed the current state of cooperation between Uzbekistan and JICA, as well as priority areas for future collaboration. In particular, they exchanged views on supporting socio-economic development, expanding technical assistance programs, and implementing promising joint projects.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to further strengthen bilateral cooperation, expand dialogue and exchanges on the aforementioned areas, and ensure systematic and effective efforts toward achieving the shared objectives.
