Meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) mission to Uzbekistan

The meeting was organized as part of the IMF's Article IV consultation mission, which is being held in Tashkent from March 26 to April 9, 2026. During the dialogue with the delegation led by Mission Chief Yasser Abdih, the parties discussed the current state of the country’s economy, development prospects, and key reform priorities.
The parties paid special attention to ensuring the macroeconomic situation and its stability, maintaining economic growth rates, controlling inflation, export-import operations, and developing the logistics system. An exchange of views also took place on agricultural reforms, improving land relations, the processes of population and agricultural censuses, and other promising areas.
The discussion also covered the transformation of state-owned enterprises and banks, reforms in the energy sector, improvement of sovereign credit ratings, expansion of public-private partnership projects, and efforts to reduce the share of the shadow economy.
In addition, issues such as the introduction of artificial intelligence technologies and training youth in this field, as well as pension system reform, were included on the agenda.
During the meeting with IMF representatives, the parties also held in-depth discussions on fiscal policy, parameters of the 2026 state budget, monetary policy and financial sector development, as well as the implementation of recommendations under the Financial Sector Assessment Program (FSAP).
Both sides highly appreciated the constructive cooperation between the Government of Uzbekistan and the IMF and expressed readiness to further strengthen collaboration in supporting ongoing reforms.
