During the meeting, the parties discussed further development of cooperation between the two countries in the field of science and scientific research, the implementation of joint research projects, the expansion of academic mobility, and support for young scientists.
It was noted that the memorandum of cooperation expected to be signed between the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Innovation of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science will create a solid institutional framework for long-term and systematic cooperation between the scientific communities of the two countries.
Within the framework of cooperation, opportunities were also discussed for Uzbek researchers to conduct scientific research at leading Japanese universities and research centers, as well as to organize joint seminars, scientific conferences, and short- and medium-term internships. Particular emphasis was placed on the importance of providing broader access to international scientific practice for doctoral students, master’s students, and young researchers.
In turn, this cooperation will expand opportunities for Japanese scientists to conduct joint research in Central Asia, including in Uzbekistan, and to participate in regional scientific projects.
Following the meeting, the parties expressed confidence that cooperation between Uzbekistan and Japan in the field of science would be mutually beneficial, sustainable, and long-term in nature. They also reaffirmed their readiness to continue an open and constructive dialogue.
