About the government

Mirzo-Ulugbek district is an administrative-territorial unit of the city of Tashkent. It is located in the north-eastern part of the capital.
The district was formed on November 29, 1929 under the name Proletarsky, in 1935 it was renamed Kuibyshevsky. On May 8, 1992 it was renamed Mirzo-Ulugbek district.
The district extends to the east and north-east of Amir Temur Square. It borders on the Yashnabad district in the south-west, on the Yunusabad district in the north-west, and on the Kibray district of Tashkent region in the north-east, east and south-east. Far from the main territory of the Mirzo-Ulugbek district is the city of Ulugbek, surrounded by the Kibray district.
The governor of the district is the highest official of the district and simultaneously heads the representative and executive authorities in the corresponding territory.
