Programme of cooperation development in the field of protection and rational use of transboundary groundwater resources in Central Asia was discussed

On 11 February this year with the participation of representatives of the Ministry of Mining Industry and Geology, SI ‘Institute of Hydrogeology and Engineering Geology’, SI ‘Uzbekhydrogeology’, International Water Assessment Centre (IWAC), GIZ, European Economic Community (EEC), UNESCO and the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation of the Republic of Kazakhstan held a meeting on strengthening cooperation in the field of protection and sustainability of water resources.

The meeting discussed the activities specified in the developed roadmap for continuation of the project ‘Transboundary Aquifer and Groundwater Resources Management in the Tashkent Region (GGRETA)’, as well as necessary measures for effective water resources management and environmental sustainability, scientific research and efforts aimed at improving water management systems.
