On February 4, a cooperation meeting was held between the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, and the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture of Malaysia, Tiong King Sing.
"Our strength lies in our diversity; by respecting different cultures and traditions, we achieve true unity," said Ozodbek Nazarbekov during the meeting.
In recent years, cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia has been steadily developing in all fields, including culture and the arts.
Thanks to the political will of the leaders of both countries, relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia in various sectors are reaching a new level.
High-level visits and established mechanisms for intergovernmental dialogue have played a crucial role in the development and deepening of bilateral cooperation.
To date, six high-level visits have taken place. In 2020, "friendship groups" were established between the parliaments of the two countries, significantly enhancing inter-parliamentary dialogue.
The visit of Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim to Uzbekistan in May 2024 marked a new era in bilateral relations.
The level of cultural cooperation between Uzbekistan and Malaysia is also evident in the consistent participation of artists from both countries in international events organized in each state.
In particular, Malaysian representatives regularly take part in Uzbekistan's international festivals such as "Lazgi," "Maqom," and "Sharq Taronalari" in 2024, achieving notable success.
Additionally, from November 26 to 29, 2024, a delegation from Malaysia's Islamic Science University organized a high-level presentation of the book "The History and Revolution of Art and Islam in Uzbekistan" at the Tashkent Architecture and Construction Building.
It was emphasized that the development of such multifaceted cooperation strengthens the friendly relations between our countries and peoples.
The traditional bonds of friendship between the peoples of Uzbekistan and Malaysia are based on shared religious beliefs, customs, and cultural values.
During the meeting, it was expressed that 2024 is expected to be one of the most significant and eventful years in the history of bilateral cooperation.
Furthermore, Uzbekistan put forward several proposals to further develop bilateral cooperation.
At the end of the meeting, the Minister of Culture of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Ozodbek Nazarbekov, congratulated his Malaysian counterpart, Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture Tiong King Sing, on the 33rd anniversary of diplomatic relations between Uzbekistan and Malaysia.
