Video footage of blasting operations in the area near the Tosh-Ota mine in the Khojaabad district of Andijan region has been circulating on social media, and according to user reports, this incident resulted in rockfall and impacted the living quarters of nearby villages.
The Mining and Geology Supervision Inspectorate visited the site and investigated the situation with the participation of local authorities, relevant services, and representatives of subsoil users.
According to the results of the investigation, it was determined that blasting operations at the Shirmonbulok-6 site were carried out on the basis of current permitting documents and approved project documentation. At the same time, during the blasting operations, rock masses were observed falling from the upper part of the quarry, and some rock fragments went outside the production area and impacted adjacent areas.
In accordance with the requirements of SanPiN No. 0350-17, the distance to the nearest residential area is set at at least 500 meters. During on-site studies, it was determined that the nearest residential area is located approximately 670-1000 meters from the area where the blasting operations were carried out, and the distance of small fragments of rocks during the blasting process did not exceed 600 meters. As a result of these circumstances, no direct harm was caused to the life and health of the population.
In connection with the identified circumstances, the subsoil user was given appropriate instructions on strengthening safety measures, reducing the volume of explosives, mandatory prior notification of the population, as well as the installation and use of warning signals. The issue of assessing the possible impact of blasting operations on residential areas will be considered additionally with the involvement of specialist organizations.
This situation is under constant control by the inspection.
