Stands with Uzbek Products to Appear in Five of Ulaanbaatar’s Largest Hypermarkets
In order to implement the Presidential Decree “On measures to realize agreements in the agricultural and food sectors reached during the high-level visit to Mongolia”, a delegation from the Agency for Plant Quarantine and Protection, together with domestic exporters, visited Mongolia.
During the visit, negotiations were held with Mongolian companies E-MART, Nomin Holding, and Tavan Bogd Group.
As a result of the talks, the parties agreed to:
- organize the “Uzbekistan Products” exhibition-fair in Mongolia in September;
- regularly exchange information on prices and services when importing products from Uzbekistan;
- subsequently carry out the re-export of agricultural products to the Republic of Korea;
- set up stands with Uzbek products in five of Ulaanbaatar’s largest hypermarkets;
- in the second ten days of August, begin exporting dry and fresh fruit and vegetable products from Uzbekistan to Mongolia by air transport.
For reference, E-Mart Mongolia is a franchised distributor and retail chain of E-Mart Inc., part of South Korea’s Shinsegae Group. The network operates 10 large hypermarkets in Ulaanbaatar, each offering an average of 12,000 product types, with 30–40% of the goods produced in South Korea.
Nomin Holding is the largest multi-sector trading company in Mongolia, operating since 1992. It includes 29 subsidiaries engaged in import-export, logistics, and retail trade. Products imported from more than 40 countries are distributed nationwide through over 50 retail outlets.
An agreement was also reached with Tavan Bogd Group to conduct market analysis and import soft drinks.
For reference, Tavan Bogd Group was established in 1998. The company represents over 60 brands and has 19 subsidiaries. It is a leading distributor of consumer goods in Mongolia, servicing around 7,500 retail outlets across the country, including 1,200 in rural areas. Its logistics system comprises 57 vehicles, including 13 refrigerated trucks, and warehouses totaling more than 5,000 m² in Ulaanbaatar, Darkhan, and Erdenet. The company’s portfolio features 45 international brands, including Kraft Heinz, Cargill, Bunge, and Hochland.
The measures being implemented will help increase the annual volume of fruit, vegetable, and food exports to Mongolia.
