The Constitution of the Republic of Uzbekistan was adopted on 8 December 1992 at the Eleventh Session of the Twelfth Convocation of the Supreme Council of the Republic of Uzbekistan. To commemorate this historic event, 8 December was declared a national public holiday — Constitution Day of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
Adopted by the Parliament on 8 December 1992, the Constitution serves as the foundation of Uzbekistan's statehood, democratic development, and the rule of law. Constitution Day is celebrated throughout the country.
All the achievements made during the years of independence, as well as the ongoing reforms aimed at improving the well-being of the people, are rooted in the principles and values enshrined in the Constitution, the Basic Law of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
