Cooperation issues with the Ministry of Interior of the United Arab Emirates were discussed

In the meeting held in Abu Dhabi with the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Interior of the UAE, Lieutenant General Sheikh Saif bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the parties discussed current issues of mutual practical cooperation, specifically, a joint effort to fight transnational organized crime, terrorism, extremism, human trafficking and cybercrime. Training employees in these directions and exchanging mutual experience were discussed, and plans were made for the future.
On this visit, the interior ministers from these two countries signed the Memorandum of Understanding "On mutual recognition and exchange of driver's licenses between the governments of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the United Arab Emirates."
As soon as this Memorandum of Understanding enters into force, citizens of the two countries will be allowed to drive vehicles on the territory of the other country with their national driver's licenses (except for those who come for long-term residence).
Also, Uzbekistani citizens who live in the UAE (those who have been granted a long-term residency right) and who hold a national driver's license will be exempt from passing the required theoretical and practical tests when applying for Emirates driver's licenses.
On January 27, 2024, the document will take effect.
Furthermore, the delegation visited the Ministry of Interior's Innovation Laboratory, the Department for Happiness and Wellbeing, the Main Research Center, the Department for Strategy and Performance Development, the Dubai Police eCrime Platform Management Center, the Public Police, the Main Department of Criminalistics and Criminology, the "War Room" - project management and Hedayah International Center to learn about their activities.
