Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Qatar in criminology research is strengthened

Meetings in Doha
On January 14-15, a delegation led by Bakhtiyor Berdialiev, Head of the Institute of Criminology of the Republic of Uzbekistan, held meetings at the highest level in Doha, Qatar. One of these meetings was held with the leadership of the Institute of Police Officers under the Doha Police Academy. Both sides presented their respective scientific research and projects related to criminology during the meeting.
Areas of cooperation
Cooperation agreements have been reached regarding such matters as organizing scientific internships, exposing cybercrimes and crimes of extreme danger, using modern technologies in emergency situations, and combating terrorism. Furthermore, the issue of developing criminology in Uzbekistan through the adoption of advanced experience from Qatar was also discussed.
Legislation and Legal Education
A meeting with the Center for Legislation and Judicial and Legal Studies under the Ministry of Justice of Qatar discussed projects related to legislation and legal education. Particularly, the project to educate young people in the spirit of respect for the law attracted considerable attention. The positive experience of the project was analyzed in order to be implemented in Uzbekistan.
International grants and future plans
During the meetings, agreements were reached regarding the implementation of joint projects against crime utilizing international grants, and the organization of short- and long-term analyses. It is also planned to sign a memorandum between the institutions of the two countries in Tashkent.
Relations with the Qatar Police Academy
A meeting was held to strengthen cooperation with the Security Research Center of the Qatar Police Academy. It was agreed to conduct joint scientific research against crime, participate in international conferences, and cooperate in the field of editorial publishing. As part of the discussion, the possibilities of using the Qatar Police library were also discussed.
Memorandum and next steps
During the meetings, it was agreed to sign memorandums of understanding between the Research Institute of Criminology of the Republic of Uzbekistan and a number of scientific organizations in Qatar. These documents will serve to enhance scientific collaboration between the two countries.
