The World Sambo Championship among adults was held in the capital of Kazakhstan, Astana. About 500 athletes from more than 80 countries competed for medals.

Sohibjon Hasanbayev, an employee of the Department of Penal Corrections, who competed well in the -88 kg weight category, won a silver medal (in combat sambo).

According to the championship results, the Uzbek national team won 2 gold, 7 silver and 4 bronze medals.
