Cooperation issues discussed

On April 2, 2026, a working meeting was held at the Agency for Industrial Cooperation and Public Procurement of the Republic of Uzbekistan with representatives of the Asian Development Bank (ADB) Country Office in Uzbekistan.
The meeting was attended by the Director of the Agency, Bakhtiyor Khaydarov, as well as heads of relevant structural divisions. The participants also included Gulamov Mirzo Iskandar, Executive Director for Operations of the Asian Development Bank in Uzbekistan, along with international experts in procurement and supply.
✍️ During the meeting, the following priority issues were discussed:
strengthening cooperation in implementing the Public Procurement System Development Strategy for 2025–2027;
expanding ADB’s participation in the implementation of tasks set out in Presidential decrees and resolutions;
formulation of priority joint projects for 2026;
integration of ADB’s updated procurement policy into the national system;
enhancing transparency and institutional capacity in public procurement.
✅ In addition, within the framework of strategic reforms, several key areas were identified:
professionalization of public procurement and capacity building of personnel;
introduction of effective business engagement mechanisms (market engagement);
broader involvement of regions and market participants in shaping public procurement policy;
strengthening compliance and integrity mechanisms;
further improvement of the electronic public procurement system.
✔️ The parties agreed on the following areas of cooperation:
engagement of international experts and provision of technical assistance;
implementation of joint analytical and diagnostic activities;
launch of pilot projects;
implementation of institutional capacity-building programs;
expansion of financial and grant support.
At the conclusion of the meeting, the parties agreed to develop a list of priority joint projects for 2026, define implementation mechanisms, and establish a regular working dialogue format (roadmap) with ADB.
