Illegal sand and gravel mining was halted

The Department of Ecology, environmental protection, and climate change of Samarkand region conducted an inspection of the activities of a private enterprise in Narpay District.
During the inspection near the Karadarya River, inspectors stopped illegal sand and gravel extraction and its transportation to a crushing plant, which was being carried out by the company’s employees using specialized equipment: one excavator and four trucks.
As a result, relevant documents were drawn up against the violators. The environmental damage caused amounted to 2 billion 722 million 666 thousand sums. The collected case materials have been submitted to the General Prosecutor’s Office for legal assessment and to hold those responsible accountable.
