The raid took place at the bird market in the Almazar district with the aim of identifying cases of illegal trade in wild birds and animals unlawfully captured in nature.
As a result of the operation, the illegal sale of 1,168 birds—including 935 sparrows, 33 common starlings, 200 larks, and 3 hawks—as well as 35 steppe turtles was discovered. The animals were confiscated from the violators.
The birds were released back into the wild, while the steppe turtles were temporarily placed under the care of the Tashkent Zoo. Additionally, the three hawks were handed over to the Society for the Protection of Wild Birds.
After undergoing medical examination and necessary treatment, the remaining animals will be released back into their natural habitat.
