Turkestan lynxes in the snowy wilderness

The Turkestan lynx is listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan and CITES Appendix II as a vulnerable, declining and mosaically distributed subspecies. It is protected in the Hissar, Chatkal, Zaamin and Surkhan Reserves, as well as in the Ugam-Chatkal and Zaamin National Nature Parks. Turkestan lynxes can live up to 17 years, and their population is estimated at around 300 individuals.
For Reference: Zaamin State Reserve was established on June 5, 1928, in the Zaamin and Bakhmal districts of Jizzakh Region. The region is home to 149 animal species, 17 of which are listed in the Red Book of Uzbekistan. In addition to the Turkestan lynx, the reserve is inhabited by the Tian Shan brown bear, Siberian ibex, Griffon Vulture, eagle, black vulture and other species.
