Employees of the "South Ustyurt" National Nature Park under the Ministry of Ecology, Environmental Protection and Climate Change photographed hen harriers in flight.
The hen harrier is a medium–sized and light-bodied bird of prey from the hawk family. Its length is 46-47 cm, and its wingspan is 97-118 cm. Like other members of its genus, it stands out for its long wings and tail, thanks to which it moves slowly and silently low above the ground. It feeds mainly on rodents - voles, hamsters, mice.
For reference: The "South Ustyurt" National Nature Park was established on November 11, 2020, in the Kungrat district of the Republic of Karakalpakstan. The territory is home to 149 species of wildlife, of which 36 species are listed in the Red Book of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
